Dog Treat Recipes - Bake Treats for Dogs
Below we have some of our favorite dog treat recipes that are easy to make and delicious for your dog! We will be adding more dog treat recipes in the coming weeks so be sure to check back often.
Tasty Garlic Dog Treats
Treat Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
¾ cup cornmeal
3 cup whole wheat flour
¾ cup powdered milk
4 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup margarine
1 tsp. bouillon cube
1 ½ cup meat broth or hot water
1 egg, beaten
Cooking Directions:
Preheat oven to 325F. Dissolve bouillon cube in meat broth - while still hot, take some of the broth, put into a blender with the garlic and blend on high. Pour all broth into large bowl, add margarine, oatmeal & stir.
Let mixture sit 5 minutes to cool. Stir in powdered milk, cornmeal & egg. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead dough by hand, adding more flour if needed. Roll on floured surface to 1/2" thick, cut into shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 50- 60 minutes. Allow to dog treats to cool & dry out until they become hard.
Veggie Delights
Treat Ingredients:
3 c. minced parsley
1/4 c. carrots, chopped fine
1/4 c. shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons bran
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 to 1 cup of water
Cooking Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a large baking sheet for use on the middle oven rack.
Stir together parsley, carrots, cheese, and oil. Combine all the dry ingredients and add to veggies. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, mixing well. Make dough moist but not wet. If needed, add a little more water. Continue kneading for one minute.
Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness. Using cookie cutter cut out the shapes and transfer them to the baking sheet. You can use the scraps to roll and make more cookies.
Bake treats for 20-30 minutes until browned and hardened slightly. (They will harden more as they cool.) Speed cooling by placing them on wire racks. Store treats in an airtight tin.
Meatball Treats
Treat Ingredients:
1/2 lb. ground beef
2 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
1 carrot, finely grated
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. tomato paste
Cooking Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients together; mix thoroughly. Roll into meatballs - whatever size is appropriate for your dog. Place on a cookie sheet sprayed with non-fat cooking spray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until brown and firm. Cool and store in the fridge or freezer.
